We are calling all men who feel the need to make a difference in our community! We will discuss community values, involvement, and commitment to change. If you want to partner with us to make positive influences on our young people, be a part of this group of leaders coming together for the good of the community. Come in and fill out an application.

$100 (CAC member $90) for the 3-week course buys you 8 hours of one-on-one instruction from a prize-winning artist. A $30 material fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class for your materials.

Kick back and relax while you learn the age-old practice of working yarn for a calming experience that induces agility of mind and peace of heart. People of all ages can benefit from the self-esteem that the craft fosters for the crafter. Whether experienced or new to the medium, children and adults alike will enjoy the meditative quality of knitting, where individuals will make “utilitarian” art – the art you can use every day. Knitting develops strong minds, focus, mathematics, and who knows what else you’ll discover throughout the course.

Follow Yvette Johns through projects and exercises as she guides you not only by hand but by spirit too, a joy-filled instructor who will meet you where you’re at. You won’t forget your hours with the do-it-all craft lady! By the end of this course, you will be on your way to making gifts for yourself and others for the rest of your life. You might just say you’ll be “hooked”

A $30 material fee for newcomers is due to the instructor on the first day of class for your materials. If you have already paid the initial material fee, you do not pay the fee again. There may be preferential material fees during the course for advanced students.

Students will settle into the New Year by creating a sweater to wear while it’s still chilly weather. Dates: Feb. 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18
Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm
Cost: $100.00 for the 6-session course (CAC member $90)

Using styles and techniques and inspirations from comic-book storylines, students will walk through stages of character development, starting with shapes and movement and building up to detailed anatomy. Experience an introduction to drawing fundamentals and advanced techniques to build figurative drawing skills. All levels of artists will enjoy mastering their understanding of movement through anatomy in a creative way! Material fee.

What may seem like simple drawings to the world may actually be preparing students for mainstream careers. Mr. Joseph Falligan, a medical illustrator whose work can be seen in educational books, inspires students to gear their visions toward current fields of study, be it anything from science to video games. No matter one’s interests, drawing is a skill that can prepare students for futures in entertainment and media, marketing, storyboarding, animation, botany, veterinarian sciences, engineering, and the list goes on. Materials suggested: pencils, kneaded eraser, 11×14 pad of paper.

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) is eager to announce the return of the Volunteer Luncheon. The event will be held on February 13th, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at the CAC, 8652 Campbellton St. Douglasville GA. The CAC will be providing a free lunch, volunteer information, and Valentine’s card-making session during this event. The Volunteer Luncheon is a great event for all interested in serving the community through the arts!

CAC volunteers answer the phone, register students for art classes, take reservations for upcoming events, answer questions about the community for visitors and tourists, provide information on our exhibitions and historic house, help with mailings and program promotions, and assist the staff with everyday operations of the Cultural Arts Council.

Sign your child up to join Ms. Krystel of Krystel’s Creations once a month to create an all-new project! Krystel will guide your child’s mind to create big dreams from small ideas. Projects are always brightly colored and fun, with plenty of room for artistic interpretation. You can register for one workshop, or you can register for them all. The season begins with your child creating his/her own apron or smock on January 19th in order to use it for all of the creativity throughout the year. If you have a creative child and have been looking for their new favorite place to be, this is it! Register fast because seats will fill up fast! *Dates subject to change
